In this section, we would be featuring some of the
web applications we have developed for our clients:
Client

Content Administrative Section
|
| RSJ
is a leading music magazine in India. After
a few years in circulation, RSJ decided to
have an online presence with big plans in
mind. The idea was not only to extend it's
presence on the web, but to become a complete
online resource centre for it's readers.
Challenges
- Since the data in most of the sections
of this site has to be updated almost everyday,
the client wanted a solution which was simple,
and easy for a layman to understand and
manage. There was a need to develop a secure,
browser based content management system
for these sections, which includes News,
Upcoming Shows, Band Pages, Guestbooks for
all the bands, Online Polls, Weekly Contests,
Classifieds, and most importanly the Online
Order system with complex backend management
tools.
The
operations of the magazine are managed from
two different locations - New Delhi which
manages content, design, and client interaction,
and Allahabad which manages distribution
and subscriptions. The client wanted to
develop a system through which both locations
were up to date with order status, stocks
and various other aspects.
Solution
- Besides other dynamic sections of the
site, Infomedia Web Solutions developed an online
ordering system for RSJ Records, BackIssues,
and Online subscriptions. All backend order
processing is managed through a company
Intranet, which links the two locations
of the company. Each order is logged into
the database, notifications and confirmations
are sent from delhi, and the order is processed
in Allahabad. Once the order is despatched,
the status of the order is changed to "Processed
and Despatched" in the database. The
inventory management is carried out from
Allahabad and new products are added to
the online storefront. Promotions, based
on available products, are managed from
Delhi. Details of each order, are logged
in the database, and monthly sales reports
are generated based on the categories of
products.
End
Result - Smooth workflow, paperless
order processing, lower costs , higher profits,
increase in sales

Client
- Best in Gems, New York, USA

Best
In Gems is one of the leading gems traders
in USA. The company's first website was
developed and launched by Infomedia Web Solutions
back in 1999 which proved to be quite successful,
generated a lot of online sale. The site
had a database of gems and stones, and was
linked to a 3rd party shopping cart for
order management.
Challenges
- Recently, the client decided to take the
site a step further and wanted us to develop
a solution to manage online sales, inventory,
backend order processing and to integrate
a host of new dynamic features in the site.
The client wanted a seperate section for
clearance items, and wanted different access
rights for different types of buyers. The
client also wanted us to develop browser
based advanced backend database management
tools. Since gemstones are unique items,
each stone was to be taken off from the
database once sold. However, the client
didnt want the sold items to be deleted,
but only made invisible.
Solution
- Since the new site was to have a large
number of advanced frontend and backend
features, a lot of planning and flow-charting
went into it before the actual job was taken
up. Once we came up with the prefect working
model for the site, the backend database
was developed in MS Access. A full feature
shopping cart with all functionalities including
a wishlist, quick checkout, add / remove
products, recalculate totals, etc. was developed.
Users have to login / register before they
can add items to the shopping cart. The
site caters to two types of buyers - wholesale
and retail. Users are presented with different
products and shopping options after recognizing
the user as a wholesale buyer or a retail
buyer. Each successful order is logged in
the database, and the sold item's status
in changed to invisible and thus is not
displayed on the site.
We created an advanced order management
and inventory management tool as well with
a simple browser based interface. Advanced
tools include sales reports, user visit
reports, inventory management tools and
user management tools.
